With sincere appreciation, the Cut Knife community thanks BOB and BETTY DUNCAN for their years of volunteer service to the Clayton McLain Memorial Museum most especially for the well-kept lawns and pots of beautiful flowers.

Spring cleaning 2023 is done! We had a crew of 7 Board members and community members, and did we ever make short work of it. Sweeping, mopping, dusting, shining – and removing mouse traps with prey in various states of decay… In any case, the buildings are all set for our summer staff to take over. We’re excited about Donna and Owen joining us this season, but we’ll introduce them to you a bit later.
We were so focused on getting through the buildings that I almost forgot to take photos until the very end. I was lucky to catch Colton finishing the mopping, and Lisa in the freight shed, but at the beginning, I found this gem in the Station house:
Autobridge: Learn to play bridge or improve your game.
Colton mopping; Lisa dusting signage and artifacts.
Many thanks to Jean, Donna, Paul, Lisa & Hunter, Chris, and Colton for their hard work.
It’s time to ready the heritage buildings for their season opening. We’re in the process of hiring summer staff but Angie won’t be at the museum this year for health reasons. We’ll need all the help we can get to prepare for the Canada Day Open House.
WHEN: Saturday, June 10 at 10am at the Museum WHAT TO BRING: A bucket, a dry dust cloth, a cloth for washing (possibly dishes, possibly counters, maybe even windowsโฆ)ย AND a friend!
If you can make it for any amount of time at all,ย please R.S.V.P.ย so we can be totally organized and prepared to tackle this.
The March 26 AGM was pretty exciting. We elected 3 new Trustees!!

The move from Railway Avenue to the MAAC-2 on Broad Street is in progress. The Board table had been relocated and was back in one-piece for the first meeting. Notice the new display case* in the second photo? It is just waiting to be filled with an exhibit!
The Board Table is in position in the Cut Knife Library with a new Museum display case* on the wall.
Another new Museum display case* in the Library with the Board Table in behind.
* These display cases were purchased from the Opal Margot bequest.
The Museum’s Annual General Meeting gives the Board an opportunity to share the past year’s activities with the community. Most of CMMM’s supporters are residents, or former residents of the Cut Knife area. The museum wouldn’t have been established 52 years ago, and wouldn’t still be here today, without the care and commitment of this community, past and present.
On Sunday, March 26 at 3pm the Museum Board will meet in the Cut Knife Community Centre. Come listen in to a review of the museum’s activities from April 2022 to the present. Maybe, you’ll be inspired to join us as a volunteer. There are so many committees to choose from: exhibits and displays, research, buildings maintenance, event planning, fundraising, community outreach…
