ALL SET FOR THE SUMMER STAFF

Spring cleaning 2023 is done! We had a crew of 7 Board members and community members, and did we ever make short work of it. Sweeping, mopping, dusting, shining – and removing mouse traps with prey in various states of decay… In any case, the buildings are all set for our summer staff to take over. We’re excited about Donna and Owen joining us this season, but we’ll introduce them to you a bit later.

We were so focused on getting through the buildings that I almost forgot to take photos until the very end. I was lucky to catch Colton finishing the mopping, and Lisa in the freight shed, but at the beginning, I found this gem in the Station house:

Colton mopping; Lisa dusting signage and artifacts.

Many thanks to Jean, Donna, Paul, Lisa & Hunter, Chris, and Colton for their hard work.

Spring Cleaning 2023

Let’s make everything sparkle for Canada Day!

It’s time to ready the heritage buildings for their season opening. We’re in the process of hiring summer staff but Angie won’t be at the museum this year for health reasons. We’ll need all the help we can get to prepare for the Canada Day Open House.

Attn: Museum Supporters

Please support the long term viability of Museums and Heritage Institutions across the country by providing your input through this Government of Canada / Canadian Heritage survey.

The Department of Canadian Heritage wants to know what Canadians think. The Government of Canada is seeking input from all Canadians, whether in Canada or abroad, who have an interest in, or want to share their opinion on, museums in Canada…

The purpose of these consultations is to gather views on issues of importance to Canadians, Indigenous partners and the heritage sector. Responses will help build a federal vision for the museum sector, which will be used to adapt or improve existing federal measures to ensure that our cultural heritage is protected, and that heritage institutions continue to be a place where Canadians can learn for generations to come.
